Mygazines Lets You Read FULL Magazines Online For FREE

in Interesting, Internet Tools

mygazines-1Wanna read the latest issue of Time magazine, PC Magazine, Playboy or Penthouse ? And wanna do it without paying a dime ? Mygazines will come to your rescue. It lets users upload magazines, product brochures and manuals and share them. And in the last 3 hours of using it (for the obvious reasons :) ), I’ve found that it has new issues uploaded in full of almost all popular and sought after magazines ( mostly US/Canadian editions )  in its diverse collection.

Mygazines has an adult filter and you’d need to register to turn that off and read the latest issue of magazines having content for 18+. And it offers an excellent interface which lets you flip through the magazines seamlessly. You could actually drag your mouse from the corner of a magazine and literally see it turning the page.

mygazines-2

It further takes your online magazine reading one step further by offering you easy ways to bookmark and share any article. It’s like you are bookmarking a blog post. You can even tag any magazine page with one click.

mygazines-3

I think Mygazines can prove to be a useful and popular service provided it is able to escape from the legal eyes of the print publishing giants. So if you are in a distant land and have been craving for the latest issue of your favorite magazine, head over to this site and enjoy reading the articles online !

You’re obviously part of that group of people that has no respect of another persons intellectual property. This view is commonly held by children that have never created anything greater than shallow and pointless blogs, have nothing worth losing or even understand that others have something to lose.

Thanks for flagging this up - we are working on a similar idea, but with the backing of the publishers (we still veto-ed DRM though).

I think that they will find themselves at the pointy end of some law suits. Based out of the Carribean though so not sure how fast it will happen.

Must agree with James though, having the orinal in your hand is still preferable - but good for previews and smaller titles.

Abhijeet 07.22.08 at 4:14 pm

@James and Ben - Yeah holding the real thing could be better and this site could attract lawsuits. But otherwise, it’s a nice concept and if it could work something out with the publishers and stay on, it could be a win-win situation for everyone.

@FO- Everyday when you are surfing the internet, knowingly or unknowingly you infringe upon the intellectual property of countless people. Mygazines is not new and many such sites exist and people like you use it everyday but they’d rather keep it with themselves and enjoy it secretly and when they find someone else sharing the service they irk thinking that they’ve been using it for so long and why is this blogger taking the credit. So yes I can understand your feelings there.

By writing about this site I’ve served two purpose - First, I’ve let the other part of the crowd know about the service ( of which you and thousand others who’ve already been using it are not a part ) and second - I’ve brought this to the attention of the majority so if there is anything illegal going on here, they have no excuse to procrastinate any more and can take action now.

“…in it’s diverse collection.”

It’s “its,” not “it’s.”

This magazine site seems to be just started as it has no pagerank and far far away in alexa.

I still like it, especially finance magazines.

Good finding Abhijeet

I must say that this one is a fantastic find. Thanks Jeet.

My MD just forwarded a link to the following article - seems like the lawyers have already been alerted:

Looks like you were right Abhijeet - they need to get the copyright sorted sooner rather than later.

Ok, OK, you all settle down, little children. Yes, you can have an opinion and voice it out, in this case, post it. However, this dude is just spreading the news, is like saying, “oh, btw Bob-G, check this out, found it kind of cool.” I don’t understand this side taking, settle down and move on with your life.

Thanks! the only info that I found useful after 2 hours of surfing the web. Thank you very much.

Would have loved for this one to be working still, since our “magazine selection” is limited to say the least out here. I miss a lot of American and English (since the wife is from there) magazines that I can’t access here. Something free like that online would have been wonderful, but now it says it’s down due to “monetary reasons and the state of the global economy”. Shame.
