Since I’ve started using Firefox 3, I’ve seen an error message in Gmail which I never encountered before.  The error message usually appears when I sign in to Gmail and the problem occurs randomly.

I’ve tried disabling the Gmail Labs feature and also using a fresh Firefox profile. However it hasn’t helped and the error message appears at least once in a day and then when later in the day I sign in again, it’s taken care of automatically. Here’s the error message :-

If you want to view all the conversations, whether emails or chat messages, with a particular gmail contact then what do you do ? Well, there are few ways. Like you can use gmail search operators or you can also use a greasemonkey script for that purpose.

However, Gmail itself provides you a quick way to do that, which you may not have discovered yet. Just look at the chat box on the left in your gmail, which has your status and shows the contacts who are available online.

For those who don’t know, I am a big fan of Gmail and am always searching for tools, tips and tricks to further optimize it and enhance its functions.

In my quest for gmail productivity tools, I came across GTD Inbox, an awesome firefox addon which helps you make your gmail as your ultimate task manager and helps you keep a clean inbox without a hassle. ‘ GTD ‘ means getting things done and thats what it aims to do with your gmail.

Let me describe what it does. It primarily aims at giving structure and meaning to the chaos of your inbox. It considers each email as a task and lets you manage it with a few clicks. Hence it primarily helps you to reorganize your emails according to your priorities.

If you have more than one gmail account for different purposes then the primary problem which you will face is not being able cannot log in to multiple accounts simultaneously if you are using one browser. Hence today we will try to explore various ways and corresponding tools to manage multiple gmail accounts simultaneously and productively too.

Now the most obvious solution to this could be opening another browser (if you have another one installed) and checking your other gmail account in that. However this may not be convenient and productive.

One good solution is to merge the other gmail account into your primary gmail account and manage it through that. This way you would never need to log in to your other account. I have explained this process elaborately in my post: Switch To A Gmail Account Without Changing Your Original Email Address . Here you can consider the email addresses to be your primary and secondary gmail address and manage it accordingly. Now when you do this, make sure you create a filter for your secondary email address and make it ‘ skip the inbox ‘ so that you do not get all the mails in your main inbox. This can be repeated for 5 such addresses.

Being a regular user of Gmail, I am always more into optimizing it through various scripts and add-ons so that I can get more out of my favorite email app. But sometimes we tend to overlook some simple features which can prove to be useful in its own way.

This is what happened that day when I was clearing my inbox and I stumbled upon 2 Gmail features which I didn’t know. So then I decided to make a list of such Gmail features which may not be too obvious to the all the Gmail users .

Geeks and advanced gmail users may already know all this but there is no harm in taking a look because you may have missed out on a feature…you never know.

Recently, Darren posted that how he used Gmail to clear 10,000 mails in his inbox. The efficient use of Filters and Labels in Gmail to archive messages already present and other incoming emails according to different rules, will help you to keep a clean inbox .

However one negative aspect of this method is that if you try to create a lot of filters to prevent messages from landing into your inbox, it could result into a long list of labels (like what I have). And here the problem is that Gmail arranges labels alphabetically on its own and doesn’t give you much freedom there. There are certain scripts which help you create folders out of labels but not everyone who is a non-geek would be familiar with that. So how do you manage such a long list of labels?

Gmail is certainly on its way to become the most widely used web based email due to its amazing features . Also it helps in productive email management for those who deal with lot of emails everyday .

However those who have maintained a single email address for years may not switch to Gmail , just because they think they’ll lose their current email address . Here comes one of the coolest gmail features . You can have a Gmail account , enjoy its features and read mails and send mails to others , who will still receive it from your old address . Advanced Gmail users are likely to know about this but those contemplating a switch to Gmail without changing your original address , you can do it in these simple steps :-
