How To- Remove Ads on Posts in Certain Categories in Wordpress

If you are a blogger who covers various topics under different categories and uses ad networks like Google Adsense, then you may sometimes want to remove ads from certain post categories.

So here is the code ( thanks to Keith and John ) which lets you remove ads from certain categories in Wordpress:-

if ( !in_category(5) && !in_category(10) ) {
?>
Your ad code here
<?php } ?>

In the above code, the number in brackets is the category id.

Today, Maki launched the new design of Dosh Dosh through a detailed announcement post. However something which he didn’t quite expect was negative feedback. Although he did get tons of appreciation but criticism poured in too. Since I follow him on twitter, I was keeping a track of that conversation. He was upset and frustrated and also mentioned: ” Criticism is frustrating, even if its constructive. I need to tune out some of the negativity I’ve gotten. ”

When start putting your thoughts in your blog, there could be various sources which attempt to distract you from writing thereby disturbing your concentration and further you might end up losing some of those thoughts.

Hence as a blogger/freelance writer you should always make sure that when you write, you keep yourself away from distractions. Now many of you might suggest turning off the internet completely as one of the options but I won’t suggest that because during writing on a topic, you may need to google something or check some links or something else on the internet. Understanding the Importance Of Link Posts - Part 2 ( Adding Value )

In my previous post , I outlined the importance of link posts for both bloggers and blog readers. However a blogger needs to add value to his link post so that his readers tend to give it some time and can gain something out of it.

Here is how I believe that bloggers can add value to their link posts :

1: Make the post title attractive

This the basic rule or rather one of the important steps towards making a post attractive and appealing to your readers. Instead of a title like ‘ Links ‘ or ‘ Links for Today ‘ , it is better to have more appealing titles like ‘ Best of Blogosphere ‘ or Evergreen Links, which could gain the reader’s attention.
