Analyze Firefox Problems Through The Error Console

We know that Firefox is immensely popular among the tech savvy crowd, especially because it allows users to install various add ons which help in delivering a better user experience.

However like any other browser, problems with firefox could arise anytime, the most notorious being the heavy memory usage which causes it to crash. Firefox 3 , which is scheduled for release this June, should take care of that, but the other issues which users face primarily due to the add ons, cannot be resolved completely.

So while browsing the internet, if your firefox starts behaving weird or you face a problem in a particular web page, how do you analyze it? Well, I think a good way to do it would be to take a look at the Firefox Error Console, immediately after you face the problem. You can click on Tools – > Error Console.

If the problem was due to an add on, you can find that under the Errors Section in the error console. Once you find it, you can uninstall the add on or search google for a possible resolution. Since I use a hell lot of add ons with my firefox, some of them do create an issue sometimes and the error console helps me to find the culprit. Like recently I found an issue with the Skype add on, through this method.

Keep in mind that error console just shows you what is causing the problem and only works if you check it immediately after the error has occured. And it doesn’t help in case of firefox crashes, because when firefox is restarted, the information in the error console is cleared.
